Vienna perfume history
In this short course (2 to 3 hrs) participants learn about the:
- Fragrances popular in Vienna and other parts of Austro-Hungarian empire in the last two centuries
- Perfumes made famous by royals and artists
- Beauty industry leaders and their personal stories
- The origins and methods of obtaining ingredients
- Changing popular taste regarding fragrances and the reasons behind this.
The course is suitable and accessible for all those interested in the history of fragrance and fashion in Vienna. It is delivered in English as a standalone lecture (interactive presentation with power point). A segment involving the sampling of famous fragrances by participants can also be added. Time and price depend on the version chosen. Other languages (French or Romanian) are also possible.

Perfume history courses
Pusa is an avid researcher and collector of fragrance books, advertisements and fragrance related artefacts and enjoys giving interactive workshops and lectures on a wide range of topics. She has access to and can invite as guest speakers other natural perfumers and academics researching fragrance-related topics. Lectures and presentations she previously delivered include:
- Introduction to the history of fragrance and the beginning of modern perfumery
- Esthetics in modern perfumery: evolution of taste in Europe
- Esthetics and economics in modern perfumery
- The ethics of perfume: ingredients, animal rights and consumer protection
- Gender polarization in perfume marketing
- Hiding the ‘nose’, maintaining the myth: creators, producers and brand building in the fragrance industry.
We are open to discussing topics and formats. Prices depend on the chosen format.

Summer programs & workshops for young adults
Mirabilis offers a week-long summer program for teenagers and young adults, introducing them to the world of fragrance. The program is a sensory experience where participants:
- Learn the principles behind fragrance creation
- Experience beautiful and intriguing natural scents from approximately 80 flowers, herbs, resins and trees collected from all over the world.
- Research the extraction and collection of fragrance ingredients
- Understand and reflect on the ethical and economical implications of the fragrance industry
- Build their own fragrance with the help of course instructors
- Design packaging and advertisement for their own fragrance

At the end of the course our young clients get to take home their personal natural fragrance (15 ml) in the strength and bottle of their choice. The course takes place in Vienna, with a field day to explore the lavender and herbs fields at the Pannonhalma Abbey in Hungary. The number of students in the summer course is limited to 14. Many places are reserved well ahead, with a small number of places available on demand.
